- Brian Kinney is one of the main characters on Queer as Folk. He is the childhood friend of Michael Novotny and soulmate of Justin Taylor in the series. He is portrayed by actor Gale Harold, Brian serves as the show's antihero. In November 2007, the character was voted the 'The Most Popular Gay Character on Television' by AfterEllen's sister site, AfterElton. Brian is a tall Caucasian male, tan skin, brown hair and is naturally very handsome or "very good looking". When at work he sports a variety of business suits. Outside of work, Brian’s wardrobe excentuate his muscular physique to attract men. Ethan Gold and several other characters have commented on Brian’s beauty.

- Justin Taylor is one of the main characters on Queer As Folk. Portrayed by actor Randy Harrison, Justin would spend most of the series as the partner of Brian Kinney. He is also the newest and youngest of Michael's group of friends. He is a quick witted, resourceful and tenacious, yet handsome teenager (later young adult). He is approximately 5'7 with a classic twink build, but poster-boy image. He is known as "sunshine" named by Debbie because of his bright facial features especially when smiling. Physically, his apparel and hairstyle changes due to phases he goes through in the series. At one point grows his hair to express his appearance as an artist, and then cuts it off to show more masculinity in season four with the Pink Posse.

- Michael Charles Novotny-Bruckner is a central character on the American television series Queer As Folk, played by Hal Sparks. Michael narrates in key episodes. Michael is referred to as a classic swimmers build with an all round American personality. He stands approximately 5'8", has short dark brown hair, and classified as being adorable and cute; especially when he smiles and laughs. He has a heart of gold while also being a slightly quick tempered due to his Italian descent. His attire is typical American attired, but more fitted. He is not obviously gay unless one discerns his actual activities and deeper gestures.

- Benjamin Bruckner is one of the main characters on the American cable show Queer as Folk, on Showtime. He becomes the love of Michael Novotny's life. He is very handsome, non obvious gay man. He stands over six feet, lighter brown hair, and muscular appearance. Along with an athletic appeal, he is has many sport hobbies such as basketball and bowling.
